Who's ready for the start of a new school year?!
We don't even have children at home anymore, but I'm still excited!
I love the start of school!
Alyssa should be graduating from BYU this year, and Jackie is continuing to plug away at her degree.
"Taking each step one by one, that's how all big things are done."
Words to live by, aren't they? This is the line Alyssa sang solo at her kindergarten promotion program.
That happened back in 1998, and I still remember that sweet little voice . . .
I had no idea this was going to happen. That wonderful teacher, Ms. Reedgrout, made sure each child had a special moment in the promotion ceremony.
It was fantastic!
Classes don't start for a little while here in Italy, but best of luck to everyone this school year!
Hey! Be sure to check out our latest recipe -- Simple Crepes. These were taught to my by Jackie's boyfriend, Christian. They are delicious and we had a lot of fun learning how to make them, photographing them and then devouring them!

Last week's most viewed post was this creamy, melty, Macaroni & Cheese deliciousness from Madame Deals -
And a couple of my favorites . . .
This Creamy Vegetable Rice from Jenn's Random Scraps
You have no idea how much this recipe appeals to me.
We were always big fans of the seasoned rice mixtures in boxes.
Several years ago, though, I stopped buying those boxes and opted to make my own rice dishes, like this Wench Fried Rice (and the Cilantro Lime "Rice" is pretty wonderful too!).
Most of the time we enjoy plain ol' rice -- maybe with a little soy or whatever sauce is going on the protein in the meal. I like a combo of olive oil and soy on mine . . .
I am excited to add this Creamy Vegetable Rice recipe to my dinner rotation. I might even add some chopped, fresh broccoli to it!
I also really like this BBQ Ranch Grilled Wedge Salad from Shaken Together Life.
Have you ever grilled your lettuce?
If not, you should!
I have and it's SO good. There's just something magical that happens when you place food on the grill!
Congratulations! Be sure to grab your button!
Thanks to everyone for participating last week — whether you posted a link or simply visited and explored the talent. We appreciate your being here!
