Yummly – A Powerful Tool for Organizing and Sharing Recipes

Uncategorized |

I would like to introduce you to . . .

Yummly

Yummly is a free tool (launched in 2010) that makes it easier for foodies like us to organize and share our favorite recipes.

The Recipe Wench has a page on Yummly —  The Recipe Wench On Yummly.

I also have a personal page, and I “yum” a lot!

I’ve got over 4,000 recipes stored!

Yummly’s mission is to be “the largest, most powerful

and most helpful food site in the world.”  (See, About Yummly).

Behind the Creation of Yummly.

Believe it or not, it all started with . . . mustard!

Dave Feller, the founder and CEO, was trying to find recipes excluding mustard and there was no way to execute a search to exclude recipes with mustard.

So, he did something about it, and we all benefit!

Getting Started With Yummly is Really Easy.

Set up an account and answer a few questions about your personal preferences, diets, allergies.

Yummly will recommend recipes to you based on your preferences AND you can also search on your own.

When you find a recipe you like, you click the “Yum” button and that recipe is stored in your “recipe box.”

You can also connect with Facebook and share your new-found recipe with friends.

The Yummly Bookmarklet

What I’m having a lot of fun with is the Yummly “bookmarklet.”

I’m no wizard with technology — trust me on that!

I was able to put this bookmarklet on my tool bar within seconds.  Seriously!

Now, whenever I run across a recipe online that appeals to me, I just click the Yum bookmarklet and the recipe gets saved to my recipe box. Easy!

Get the bookmarklet HERE.

Like The Recipe Wench, many food blogs have already installed a Yum “button,”

but if you run across a blog that hasn’t gotten around to it yet, then the bookmarklet on your toolbar is very handy.

And, get this, you can also add YOUR OWN recipe to your Yummly Recipe Box!

So, go explore YUMMLY and start “Yumming”!   Don’t forget to “yum” The Recipe Wench recipes so you can keep everything in one handy place!

My Healthy Banana Muffins have been “yummed” THREE THOUSAND times!  Yes!  3,000!  I’m amazed and excited!
